Laura Vere was born and raised in Stratford, Ontario as a kid who loved all things sports. Hockey, soccer and basketball were key factors in building her work ethic, passion and teamwork skills. As she moved onto study Radio Broadcasting at Fanshawe College she knew she had to continue to play ball. Over four years at Fanshawe, Vere has been a key piece in the Falcons Women’s Basketball team’s success. While completing three programs – Radio Broadcasting, TV-News and Public Relations-Corporate Communications – Vere maintained a 4.0 GPA, resulting in Deans Honour Roll recognition as an excelling student from the College each year but also as a student- athlete from the Ontario College Athletics Association and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association. Vere has been awarded the following: OCAA All Academic x 2, CCAA National Scholar x 2, CCAA Academic All-Canadian, Team MVP, OCAA West Division Second team All-Star x 2, Falcons Spirit Award, Les Zolti Award for leadership and dedication, and Fanshawe’s Athlete of the Month.
Through her success as a student-athlete Vere has perfected the art of time management, organization, leadership and teamwork. She brings these skills where ever she goes and always has a team first mentality.
Vere is currently the Marketing Coordinator for the National Basketball League of Canada’s (NBLC) London Lightning.
Vere’s favourite things include the TV show FRIENDS, her dog, food, live music, basketball, funny GIFs on twitter, anything Disney, driving with the windows down, sunflowers and peppermint tea.
You can find her curled up with a book or getting shots up in a gym when she isn’t working hard on her ‘to do’ lists.
